Radda in Chianti - Classic Chianti Pathways
The magnificent, less tamed region of Chianti is one of Italy's oldest and best-known wine producing areas. The renowned Sangiovese grape is grown here producing the Chianti Classico and Chianti Reserve. By the17C wine was already being exported. Wine lovers will be delighted with the town's many Enotecas, ideal places to sample the wide selection of wines this district has to offer.
The village of Radda provides an excellent base for exploring the most typical and beautiful parts of Chianti. Radda's origins go back to 2000BC. It is a small Hilltown retaining many original medieval features.
It has a good balance of being attractive to day visitors and becoming a quiet rural town in the evenings. There is a variety of good quality shops specializing in ceramics, Tuscan leather goods and an excellent alimentari Casa Porciatti producing the very best Chianti has to offer.

Walking Grades
Our walks are designed to be enjoyed and manageable for everyone with average fitness. Certainly it is hilly and we walk in and out of hilltowns. There are occasionally short steep sections. For this reason we recommend hill walking prior to coming not only on the flat.
Via Walking grades the walks in both walking hours and distance. We plan walking times on an average of 3.5 kilometers per hour.
The walks vary between easy to medium. The medium rating generally covers walking up to a hill town or a longer distance.
