The 12C village of Radda in Chianti has Etruscan origins going back to 2000 BC. It is a small, unspoilt Hilltown that retains many original medieval features.
The magnificent, less tamed region of Chianti is one of the oldest and best-known wine producing areas. The renowned Sangiovese grape is grown here producing the Chianti Classico and Chianti Reserve. By the 17C wine was already being exported. Wine lovers will be delighted with the town's many Enotecas, ideal places to sample the wide selection of wines this district has to offer.

Others will find joy and magic in the slow-paced simplicity of everyday town life. The views over olives, vines, stone houses and large tracts of forest from Radda's medieval walls at sunset are spectacular, especially after a day of walking through the heart of Tuscany.

Walking Grades

Our walks are designed to be enjoyed and manageable for everyone with average fitness. Certainly there are ups and downs and occasionally steep sections. For this reason we recommend hill walking prior to coming.

More walks than days are included. We suggest a schedule of walks balanced between length and ease but you have the option to be flexible depending on weather and how you feel

Via Walking grades the walks in both walking hours and distance. We plan walking times on an average of 3.5 kilometers per hour.

The walks vary between easy to medium. The medium rating generally covers walking up to a hill town or a longer distance.
